POSITION DESCRIPTION
1. The Dean manages the faculty and is its representative.
2. The Dean is the superior of the employees and students who are part of the faculty, based on the authorization of the Rector.
3. The Dean makes decisions regarding the functioning of the faculty, which do not fall within the competence of the University bodies.
4. In particular, the Dean:
1) makes decisions on behalf of the Rector within the framework of the power of attorney granted by the Rector;
2) develops a development strategy for the faculty in accordance with the development strategy of the University;
3) manages the financial management of the faculty;
4) submits a draft of the faculty's material and financial plan to the faculty council;
5) on the basis and within the limits of the power of attorney granted by the Rector, incurs liabilities and makes expenditures on behalf of the University in the scope concerning the faculty, and also performs other legal acts concerning the University's property at the disposal of the faculty, with the exception of the sale and encumbrance of real estate;
6) coordinates teaching activities at the faculty;
7) undertakes activities in the field of research activities resulting from decisions of the board of science;
8) makes decisions or submits motions regarding the appointment and dismissal of heads of organizational units of the faculty;
9) makes decisions and submits motions in other matters related to the activities of the faculty.
The head of the department:
1) represents the department externally;
2) supports the development of research projects;
3) supports research in the disciplines covered by the department's activities;
4) organizes and supervises the teaching activities of the department;
5) submits applications to the faculty council or the dean, including applications concerning employment, other employee matters and awards for department employees;
6) manages the department's property and allocated financial resources, subject to separate regulations;
7) submits annual reports on the department's activities to the dean.
Duties include:
1. conducting research,
2. conducting classes,
3. applying for research funds,
4. substantive supervision of PhD students,
5. activities related to managing the Department of Environmental Chemistry.
INTERESTS
1. Analysis of biological samples and chemical analysis of environmental pollutants using separation techniques, including:
high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC-MS/MS; HPLC-UV-Vis DAD; HPLC-FLD; HPLC-LSD), gas chromatography (GC-MS), capillary electrophoresis (CE-UV-Vis DAD).
2. Chemistry and biochemistry of thiol amino acids, homocysteine thiolactone and their metabolites.
3. Development of analytical methods enabling the determination of selected biologically important compounds in complex matrices.
4. Preparation of a biological sample for analysis; chemical derivatization.
5. Study of the possibilities of increasing sensitivity in capillary electrophoresis using concentration of analytes in the capillary.
